Happy Thanksgiving Community! 🦃💜I hope you're spending the day with your loved ones, whether that's your family, friends, or even just your furbaby. I hope you're eating great food and taking the time to reflect on the good things that you have to be thankful for. I think many of my core followers know it's been a rough year for me personally, but that doesn't mean I don't have many things in my life for which I can be grateful. In spite of it all, I do have many things. Swipe to view my list, and of course, I'm SO GRATEFUL for you! I hope you have a great holiday weekend! What's your favorite part of Thanksgiving: The food, Black Friday shopping, or family time?
If your pet is receiving chemotherapy and has been a picky eater lately, this should be a good week for them! A little turkey white meat can be very convincing. 🦃Many times, pets can get bored with their food, or some medications like chemotherapy can decrease their appetite, so in addition to turkey meat, here are some tips you can use to make their food more interesting again:🍽 Heat their food in a microwave.🍽 Add aroma to the plate by adding low-sodium chicken broth.🍽 Specifically for dogs - try adding boiled chicken, rice, or eggs.🐈⬛ For cats - Try adding juices from a tuna can or just add tuna.🍽 Switch up the texture of their food; instead of a pâté, try low-salt deli slices, shredded, crumbly, or dry food.🍽 Change the environment, change the bowl, type of bowl, plate, or where you feed them.Alternatively, you do not want to do the following:❌ Do not add fats or spices.❌ Avoid immediately transitioning to another food; you usually want to do that slowly to avoid diarrhea or GI issues.Do you have a picky eater? Are you cooking for Thanksgiving?
Did you know that feline lymphoma is one of the most common cancers among cats? And did you also know that Siamese cats are one of the three breeds most likely to get it? 🐈⬛⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Has your cat ever had a cancer scare? Why is every veterinary professional not using this innovative MCT treatment once they hear about it? I don't know, but it's my mission to convert non-believers into believers by sharing my patient's treatment journey and all of the science behind it. So many dogs and families are happier and still together because of it! 🙌🏻Do you still have any reservations about STELFONTA®? Share what they are in the comments and I'll make posts to address them!
This is for veterinary professionals who want to treat their patients with the best standard of care! ⚕️Sometimes, to do this, you must self-educate and find options outside of what your hospital may already be using. With that, I encourage you to bring new medicines and modalities up in your practice; there's nothing wrong with exploring something new as long as it has the science and studies to back it up.If we're not evolving, we're not improving, so when I heard about a new way to treat chemotherapy-induced diarrhea, I was thrilled. Why? Because the current standard of care for this symptom was to use the antibiotic metronidazole. But using metronidazole has contributed to the overarching dilemma of antibiotic resistance and also isn't always the most effective treatment; it's just been the best we've had.I've been prescribing Canalevia®-CA1 for a couple of years now to my chemotherapy patients, and it's been dramatically helpful. Give it a google and let me know what you think! 🔎
Those who get it - get it, and those who don't - can't. Which side are you? 😂 🐾
