Are Splenic Masses in Dogs Always Hermangiosarcoma? Vlog 84

August 21, 2019

If you were just told that your dog has a mass in the spleen, you need to watch this video. No, not every mass in the spleen is hemangiosarcoma. No, we cannot tell on ultrasound or at surgery what the mass is. So we need to go to surgery and wait for the biopsy. Dr Sue will review the double two-thirds rule for masses in the spleen for dogs. Dr Sue will give you tips on when we can be more suspicious it is hemangiosarcoma in your dog, and when it is less likely. And she will discuss some of the OTHER cancers and benign masses we see in the spleens of dogs. And in part 2 & 3 Dr Sue will discuss more on hemangiosarcoma symptoms, testing, treatment, and prognosis.
